Our Story

A promise to do more, made to a close friend dying of a rare cancer, led to the founding of Spanios in 2017. Our decades of knowledge and experience in the field of cancers and access to the world’s largest and most specialized medical center could not prevent our friend from dying. The helplessness we felt at our inability to apply our expertise as cancer researchers, challenged us to make an indelible impact in research that transforms the lives of individuals battling cancer by providing them targeted treatment options. Cancer survival is measured in five-year time periods. Our friend never had a fighting chance to reach even one of these milestones. However, her inspiration and the promise we made has become Spanios’ mission. We are well on our path to alleviating the suffering of millions battling cancers by enabling researchers to accelerate their quest for targeted therapeutic options.

The field of solid tumor cancers lacks reliable and efficient human model systems. Spanios has identified the critical rate limiting step holding back the pace and scope of necessary oncology research. Our models are built utilizing our proprietary technology and provides tools where non previously existed.
